Anton sets fastest lap at Clark speedway

MANILA, Philippines - Triple Philippine Hillclimb champion Carlos Anton set the fastest lap in the Circuit Showdown at the Clark International Speedway recently.

Parading his Mark Young-prepared Honda CRX, Anton clocked one minute, 09.383 seconds, with the support of Yokohama, Hornitex flooring, Total Fuels and Lubricants, Autoshack, Home Outlet, Mohspeed, and Sizzling Plate.

He bested 24 other participants in the time attack event, including veteran racers aboard top-of-the-line cars like the Mitsubishi Evolution, Subaru, Lexus and Nissan Skyline.

“The Hillclimb got postponed so we decided last minute to join the Circuit Showdown. Winning here is special because it’s the home of our major sponsor Yokohama and we set that time using the latest A050 tire,” said Anton.

Miko Briones, son of former slalom champ Lelet Briones, was second while Joby Tanseco, in his Evolution 10, was third.

The sprint races were won by Juny Binamira and Nicolo Fernanadez with Jan dela Merced finishing third in both races in his Subaru.
