Chico biggest Forest Hills golf winner
ANTIPOLO, Philippines – Bobby Chico scored a hole-in-one in the recent ninth Forest Hills Invitational and wound up as the tournament’s biggest winner after going home with a brand-new Hyundai Tucson, a Yamaha golf cart and cash for his feat.
The 42-year-old, who once worked as golf director of the rolling complex here, aced the 160-yard 13th hole of the Nicklaus layout with a Fourteen 6-iron to bag the bounty in the event presented by Golforce, Diamond Auto Group of Companies and PLDT SME Nation.
Brothers Biboy and Zaldy Villa took home the low gross trophy after shooting a total of 93 points with the Wilbert Tan-Marvin Caparros tandem firing 129 for the over-all championship in the event also backed by Sumitomo Chemical Philippines, Turf Co., Taishan Insurance, Autohub, Sports Specialists Worldwide, Club Car and Kart Plaza.
Directors Paco Gonzalez, Peng de Tagle, GM Romy Carlos and Sports & Games chairman, Gene Lim awarded the Group 1 championship trophies to Tonton San Diego and Elmer De Leon who churned out 128 points.
Nelda Roguel-Marilen Yaptangco shot 125 for the Group 2 crown while Evelyn Alcantara-Noel Santiago assembled 128 markers for the Group 3 crown, nipping Xerxes Cortel-Giovanne Lim by four.
The Korean pair of Kim Eunjong-Kang Won checked in second behind San Diego-De Leon with 126, while Boy Alcantara and Bong Rabang finished five points behind Roguel-Yaptangco in Group 2 action.
Another car, a Hyundai Accent, was driven home by Rafael Estanislao, who won the grand raffle prize in the well-attended awarding ceremonies after the final round.
