Corpin leads chess winners

MANILA, Philippines - Jose Carlo Corpin dominated the under-15 category while Israelito Rilloraza topped the under-11 division in the National Book Store First Move chess tournament series recently.

Justin Pe and Lucas Ramos placed second and third, respectively, in the under-15 class while Jasper Marce and Christian Navarro finished behind Rilloraza in the under-11 division of the tournament backed by Bestsellers, Robinsons Galleria and Toys R Us.

Dennis III Gutierrez, meanwhile, ruled the under-8 category, besting Andrew Sopungco and Angelo Labayne while Jolina Mae Saltorio won the Best Female Player award.

The series, meanwhile, resumes at Bestsellers at Robinsons Galleria today and every first Saturday of the month with the finals set on Sept. 4 at the Robinsons Galleria Activity Center.
