GT Championships kicks off tomorrow at BRC

-

MANILA, Philippines - Circuit Racing takes the spotlight anew as the Philippine Grand Touring (GT) Championships kicks off tomorrow at the Batangas Racing Circuit.

Young Paul Henderson Perez faces new challenges as he aims for a back-to-back crown in this event, which is part of the 2010 BRC Motorsports Championships Season and sponsored by Yokohama Tires, Pagcor Sports, Enercel Forte, Municipality of Rosario Batangas Tourism Council, Aeromed, Chequered Flag and Stoplight TV.

The series, sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines, aims to break the monotony of one-make cars by giving various competitive car manufacturer brands equal chances for the titles at stake.

Twenty-five drivers are expected to compete for the titles in the GT125, GT200 and the GT300 divisions. The drivers will put their talents and versatility on the line racing in the morning 10-lap Sprint event and in the 16-lap final race in the afternoon.

Perez bagged the overall plum with 194 points over John Asuncion as he also captured the GT125 title over closest rival Nicolo Fernandez and third placer Richard Bodestyne last season.

Asuncion claimed the overall GT 200 crown with 144 points over William Tan, Quincy Buenaflor and Monty Buhay.

Emayson Manaog remains the top favorite in the GT300 class, as he guns for a second straight title over Leo San Juan and Antonio Rock Moncupa.
