MANILA, Philippines - The cream of the crop in the local taekwondo horizon will show their wares in the 2010 Smart National pool championships April 25 at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
“Only the best jins from the NCR and all 16 regions who are members of the Taekwondo Blackbelt Brotherhood-Sorority (TBB/TBS) and the Philippine Taekwondo Contingents (PTC) are eligible to compete,” says Philippine Taekwondo Association president Robert Aventajado.
The prestigious event is expected to spawn future national athletes and leaders in the taekwondo community, adds Aventajado.
Members of these elite groups who continue to swell and improve their skills to world-class level could set the standards in the different categories lined up during the competition.
Organizing committee chair Sung Chon Hong says the event is a good opportunity for the blackbelters from NCR and the other regions to further hone their talents and learn new techniques.
Around 500 of the country’s best jins will see action in individual and Master events for senior men and women, junior men and women and grade school boys and girls.
The tournament is supported by Smart Communications, PLDT, Milo and the Philippine Sports Commission.
Sports aficionados, including children who wish to learn the sport, are invited to watch the event starting at 9 a.m.
