Valle, Lariba dominate UP Chancellor's Cup

MANILA, Philippines - National players Rodel Valle and Ian Lariba ruled most events at the final day of 12th Stiga-University of the Philippines (UP) Chancellor’s Cup National Invitational Table Tennis Championship over the weekend at the SM Annex on North Edsa.

Valle, representing Philippine National Police table tennis club, won the men’s singles open and men’s doubles of the weeklong event supported by Topcoms-Star Sports brand managers Jesus Lim Jr. and Malvin John Lim.

Lariba earned the crown in women’s open singles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles in the tournament supported by new digital Newgy USA Robopong 2050, Star Sports Korea ball brands and popular table tennis equipments Stiga and Donic.

Valle teamed up with Paul Puentespina to win over UP’s Leonard De Leon and Champ Nanaman, 3-0, in the men’s doubles before topping Angel Marcelino in the singles, 3-1.

Lariba outclassed former national player Arlene Borja of G 5000, 3-2, in the women’s singles, while she teamed up with Sandra Bazar to beat Mabeth Compedio and Arlene Borja of G 5000, 3-0, for the women’s doubles.
