Smart-Head jr tennis resumes at C de Oro

MANILA, Philippines - Action in the Smart/Head Junior Tennis Satellite Circuit resumes today in Cagayan de Oro City with the staging of the second leg at the Petit Barracks of the Zamboanga Lawn Tennis Association near Lantaka Hotel.

Local talents Abdulquohar Allian and siblings Chelsea and Kyle Gacho head the more than 100 participants seeing action in the three-day tournament, which includes top under-16 boys division player and Davis Cup team member Juan Paolo Cansino and inaugural leg top male player Carlo Nono.

Also in the fold are Jan Jerric Accion and the Cariga brothers – Abdul Hanan, Eric, Michael, Jaffary and Emir.

Zamboanga City Mayor Celso Lobregat, Art Aro of Smart Sports and Arleen Lindo of Chris Sports will grace the opening of the tournament presented by Smart Sports in cooperation with Head, Chris Sports, Meralco and Toalson.

Five more legs of this ranking tournament sanctioned by the Philippine Tennis Association will be played this month.

From Cagayan de Oro, action goes to Digos City April 10-12 then to Davao City April 15-17, Lapu-Lapu City April 20-23, Cebu City April 24-27 and Panglao, Bohol City April 29-May 2.

Other cities hosting the event, serving as a qualifying stage for the Masters tournament at yearend, are Dumaguete (May 4-6), Bacolod (May 8-10), Iloilo City (May 12-15), Baguio (May 18-21) and Metro Manila (May 24-30).
