Palasan, Nono top Head junior netfest

-

MANILA, Philippines - Second seed Lynette Palasan and Carlo Nono scored victories in contrasting fashions to rule their respective divisions in the Head Junior Tennis Satellite Circuit at the Nazareth Tennis Club in Cagayan de Oro City recently.

The petite Palasan stamped her class in the 16-under and 18-under divisions to emerge the best lady player in the first leg of the circuit, which serves as a ranking tour event of the Philippine Tennis Association.

Palasan wore down Honey Mae Guilles in a thrilling three-set encounter decided via a tiebreaker, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (10-2) in the event presented by Smart in partnership with Head and Chris Sports.

Nono, named the best male player in the opening leg, captured the 14-under boys crown with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Jan Jeric Accion.

For their feats, Palasan and Nono received tennis equipment and brand-new cellphones. They also gained berths in the Junior Masters event slated later this year.

The other winners were Clyde Mari Casino (10 unisex), Christian Fel Lopez (12-under boys), Janelle Carmella Llavore (12-under girls), Roxanne Resma (14-under girls), Juan Paolo Cansino (16-under boys) and Clee Jay Albano (18-under boys).
