12th STIGA-UP Chancellor's Cup slated

MANILA, Philippines - More than 300 players all over the country are expected to participate in the 12th STIGA-University of the Philippines (UP) Chancellor’s Cup National Invitational Table Tennis Championship set April 6-10 in two venues.

The annual event, supported by Topcoms-Star Sports brand managers Jesus Lim Jr. and Malvin John Lim, will have 24 events including the men and women team event, team non-rank and singles and Liha event.

Reigning men’s singles open champion Julius Esposo and women’s singles champion Sendrina Balatbat are expected to face tougher opponents in the event supported by new digital Newgy USA Robopong 2050, Star Sports Korea ball brands and popular table tennis equipment STIGA and DONIC.

Star Sports Korea, the newest ball brand available in basketball, volleyball and soccer, and different sports gear provider Topcoms have expressed their intention to support the national table tennis tournament organized by Prof. Oscar Santilices to develop the sport.

Last year’s men and women’s open team event winner Metropolitan Table Tennis Association (METTA) are bidding for a back-to-back title.

The first two days will be held at the UP kinetic gym in Diliman Quezon City and the last three days at SM Annex, fourth floor on North Edsa.
