Mercedes Trophy on at Sta. Elena
MANILA, Philippines - The MercedesTrophy National Final, the country’s most anticipated and successful golf event in the automobile industry, goes underway today at the challenging three nine-hole courses of the Sta. Elena Golf Club in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
A full field of 216 participants, composed of Mercedes-Benz owners and special invitees, will be gunning for the seven slots, two in each from three classes (A, B, C) and one from the ladies division, to the MercedesTrophy Asian Final set in Queensland, Australia on Aug. 18-21.
The winners and runners-up will compose the CATS Motors-RP team, spearheaded by CATS Motors president and delegation head Felix Ang and PR director and country captain Emy Arcilla, and they’ll be flown, all-expense paid, via business class courtesy of Philippine Airlines.
The players will also have the chance to bring home either a Mercedes-Benz E350 Coupé AMG Sport, Makati Shangri-La presidential suite overnight and a romantic dinner at Red for two, TW Steel oversized watches, Canon EOS 7D and Blaze motorbike if they make a hole-in-one in any of Sta. Elena’s beautiful par-three holes.
“I’d love to see somebody win any or all of these great prizes, especially the E350 coupe which will surely spice up the affair,” said Ang of the MercedesTrophy, which is now on its 20th year worldwide, co-presented by PAL, PLDT Business Solutions, Smart Infinity, Shell Helix, Arrow Shirts and TW Steel.
Sta. Elena Properties, Inc., Canon Philippines, Makati Shangri-La, Seaboard Eastern Insurance, Johnnie Walker, Coors Light, Crown Pipes, Business Mirror and Inquirer Golf Monthly are major sponsors.
CATS Motors chairman Greg Yu and Ang lead the ceremonials and will play host to the country’s top executives including Philippine Airlines’ Jimmy Bautista, Pilipinas Shell’s Edgar Chua, and Shangri-La GM Reto Klauser, PLDT’s Eric Alberto and Arrow’s Benito Lim.
