Bacani summer tennis camp up at PCA

MANILA, Philippines - The Butch Bacani Summer Tennis Camp is slated to start April 5 at the three outdoor courts of the Philippine Columbian Association on Plaza Dilao.

Classes for beginners, intermediates and advanced level players will be held Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for 12 sessions April 5- April 30.

Butch Bacani, head coach for grassroots development of Philta, encourages beginners to take advantage of the program with its “pay for one, bring another friend or sibling for free”. The offer is only for beginners.

A USPTA-certified professional teaching coach, Bacani has also coached the Philippine Davis Cup team in 1983 and 1988. He has conducted summer tennis camps since 1983.

Bacani has also coached the University of the Philippines men’s varsity team to an unprecedented five consecutive victories in the UAAP.

Some of the Philipine top-ranked players under his tutelage from the 80’s to the present are Roland So, Michael Mora, Glenn Remigio, Raymond Suarez, Bong Battad, Ion. Irwin and Ian de Guzman, Tony Boy Villar, JR Celestino, Tony Boy del Rosario Jeanette Gomez, Sarah and Nina Castillejo, Edward King, Jennifer Saberon, Jennifer Saret, Eva Olivarez, Poppet Lizardo, Tonito Payumo, Cesca LaO , Niño Alcantara, PJ Tierro, Yannick Guba, Mark Contreras, Jolo and Enrique Ferrer, Vince Salas, Enah Baba, Mark Balce, Maia Balce, Albert Villamor, Monika Banez, Joel Atienza and Dheo Talatayod.

The camp is supported by PCA, Dunlop Balls and Pagcor.
