John Hay seniors bag Corp Cup

MANILA, Philippines - The Camp John Hay Golf Club Seniors team dominated its rivals and cruised to a whopping 46-point victory over ABW Leaves of Life in 22nd Camp John Hay Suites Philippine Corporate Cup at the John Hay Golf Club in Baguio City late Thursday.

The host squad, led by Fred Puckett’s sterling 56 and 55 points, strung up rounds of 160 and 152 to finish the 36-hole tournament with a 312. ABW Leaves of Life had a 266 while SMC Chemical wound up third with a 247.

Nelson Eslao backed up Puckett with 55 and 48 Molave points while Clyde Cabreros had 49-48 and Park Jong Won made 47-49 in the four-to-play, three-to-count format event sponsored by Camp John Hay Manor, Rudy Project, Warbird Securities and Investigation Agency, Inc., Golforce, Le Chef, Rizgolf Sports Marketing, Poblador, Bautista and Reyes Law Offices and Federal Management and Maintenance, Inc.

ABW Leaves was led by Buddy Velayo (44-50), Benjamin Jacinto (51-42), Albert Garcia (40-39) while Bo Tuason had 34-37. Ma-Com Tech Solutions Seniors I came in fourth with 245 followed by Subic Gas (242), Ma-Com Tech 2 (231), Texas (221) and Ma-Com Tech 3 (194).

Meanwhile, Rizgolf I, led by Obet Alvarez (45-46) and Benny de Leon II (42-40) and Mike Ilano (41-42), also posted an emphatic win in Group 3, assembling a 256 for a 12-point romp over Corinthians 1440, which had a 244.

Toyota Baguio ended up third with a 233 followed by Syleenor Ensure I (231), Calamba Doctors Hospital 3 (230), ERA Farm (230), Le Chef (229), Princess Cruises (226), Rizgolf 2 (225), Quality Guards (223), ABGC 1 (223), Core Petro Bulk Maritied (217), Marcian Garden (216), Syleenor Ensure 2 (216), Kenro Corp. (211), Piedgras Negras Const. (211), Great Companies (206), Warbird (187), Filipinas Dravo Corp. (186), Friday Business Group II (152) and Calamba Doctors Hospital 5 (145).

Rizgolf also dominated Group 4 of the event backed by CJH Dev’t Corp., Boracay Sands, Fairways and Bluewater, Zest Airways, The Manila Southwoods Manor, The Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club, Sherwood Hills Golf Club, Forest Hills Golf Club and ABW Leaves of Life, completing a 1-2 finish with Rizgolf 8, headed by Bengie Bacalalad (38-43) and Edgar Villostas (40-36), pooling a 225 for an eight-point victory over Rizgolf 4, which had a 217.

Manila East Medical Center finished third with a 217 followed by Rizgolf 5 (215), Interconnect Systems, Inc. (215), Syleenor Ensure 3 (198), Calamba Doctors Hospital 4 (192), ABGC 2 (190), Rizgolf 6 (190), Rizgolf 7 (181) and Rizgolf 9 (141).
