MANILA, Philippines - Barely on its second season of competitive racing, Fern-C-PCR-Tough Gear Racing Team has achieved big strides in the Philippine Karting scene, emerging the winningest team with seven trophies in the just-concluded second leg of the Pagcor Sports KF2-KF3 Cup at the Clark International Speedway.
Milo Rivera, a Don Bosco freshman, delivered the biggest victory as he became the first local karter to upset former champ Stefano Marcelo in the KF2 division through the support of Fern-C, PCR-Italy, Tyson Sy Foundation Inc., Placewell International Inc., CMB Films, Getaway Tours Int’l., and Golf Sky.
After clinching the runner-up finish in Race 3, Rivera showed the way in Race 4, controlling the tempo from start to finish before winding up the 11-lap race in 10 minutes, 51.55 seconds, 0.305 seconds ahead of Marcelo.
Despite running on a rented engine, Rivera displayed nerves of steel to complete the victory.
Rivera’s younger brother Estefano also rallied from behind to post a third place finish in Race 4 of the KF3 class.
Estefano also bagged the Rookie Karter of the Year honors and emerged the Asian Karting Yamaha Cup Juniors champion.
