Taekwondo holds summer clinic

MANILA, Philippines - A new taekwondo program, designed to keep the kids busy this summer and promote youth development, will be held next month in 15 venues.

Dubbed the Scientific Taekwondo Efficiency Program (STEP), the program will ensure the students will understand and learn the fundamentals for a better foundation when they move up the ladder in taekwondo.

“STEP is not just a taekwondo program but a tool in values education aimed at having a player compete with honor and courage. The program also encourages and will teach the parents on how they can support their kids in their Olympic dream,” said Stauro Punongbayan, founder and program director of STEP.

STEP will have a soft launch and free clinic at SM Southmall Las Piñas on April 5 starting at 10 a.m. and will culminate with an open tournament on April 10 and 11.

Classes start April 5 for Monday, Wednesday and Friday schedule and on April 6 for Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday schedule.

The students will also take their promotion test that will be run by the PTA at the end of the summer program.

A Summer Kickboree also awaits enrollees where they will have their mini tournament, graduation and culminating activity. The kids will receive their belt, Milo taekwondo sports clinic certificates and STEP certificates as well as medals plus other surprises.
