GMA to tour refurbished Rizal

-

MANILA, Philippines - President Arroyo will finally see for herself the renovation being done on the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex during an ocular trip to the age-old venue.

The Chief Executive is to attend the unveiling of the Department of Health’s new program dubbed the “Generic Mascot” set at 1 p.m. at the newly constructed boxing gym inside the government-owned complex.

The program by the DOH, which will be represented by Secretary Esperanza Cabral, is targeted to give generic drugs a face while promoting the importance of using generic drugs.

But the PSC chaired by Harry Angping plans to take the occasion to accompany and probably tour President Arroyo around the multi-sports site where major construction is being done to improve the facility.

PSC commissioners Eric Loretizo, Fr. Vic Uy, Joey Mundo and Akiko Thomson will accompany Angping in the tour.

The PSC has started construction of the dormitories that will be used by the athletes who will be displaced from the north and south towers which will be made into a sports academy.

There is also an ongoing construction at the Adriatico side of the Rizal Memorial Track and Field Oval where a “sports mall” will be put up.

Aside from these repairs, the PSC is also planning to refurbish the decades-old diving area located alongside the swimming pool.

It marked the first time in 25 years the diving area will be renovated. – Joey Villar
