Dipza Realty, Shakey's pace Corp Cup

MANILA Philippines - Dipza Realty, drawing solid rounds from Joseph Dy and Edi Lim, assembled a 271 to wrest the lead in Group 1 while Shakey’s paced Group 2 with a 261 in the 22nd Camp John Hay Suites Philippine Corporate Cup at the John Hay Golf Club in Baguio.

Dy fired 49 Molave points in the first round and finished with a 44 while Lim recovered from a so-so 39 with 49 points on the second day as Dipza Realty surged ahead with half of the starting field of 70 teams still to complete play in various divisions late Thursday.

Patrick Lee had 42 and 44 points while Tony Kong put in 42 and 45 as Dipza Realty strung up a 133 and 138 for that pacesetting 271, 13 points ahead of second running Calamba Doctors Hospital I.

John Calica came through with impressive 48 and 51-point outputs but the rest of the team struggled at the tricky, up-and-down layout as Calamba settled for a 258. Robert Banatin had 37-45, Eli Malaya made 37-39 and Dom Amistad chipped in 38-35.

Fagioli Coffee Club pooled a 253 while Ma-Com Technology turned in a 235 in the premier division of the four-to-play, three-to-count event sponsored by Camp John Hay Manor, Rudy Project, Warbird Securities and Investigation Agency, Inc., Golforce, Le Chef, Rizgolf Sports Marketing, Poblador, Bautista and Reyes Law Offices and Federal Management and Maintenance, Inc.

Shakey’s, meanwhile, took a 12-point lead over Imarflex in Group 2 as it assembled a 261 behind Anil Sehwani’s 44 and 50 points, Eric Illecas’ 47 and 45 and Ojie Caja’s 37-38 in the tournament backed by CJH Dev’t Corp., Boracay Sands, Fairways and Bluewater, Zest Airways, The Manila Southwoods Manor, The Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club, Sherwood Hills Golf Club, Forest Hills Golf Club and ABW Leaves of Life.

Alex Ong scored 45 and 47 points while Moises Guevarra had 43 and 41 for Imarflex, which had a 249 while Rizgolf 3 stood at third with a 246 followed by Baguio Hackers (243), Calamba Doctors Hospital 2 (237) and Aces Agri Mfg. Corp. (221).

Calamba Doctors Hospital 3 and Era Farm finished tied for first in Group 3 with 230s while Le Chef stood one point adrift at 229 followed by Quality Guards (223), Marcian Garden (216), Kenro Corp. (211).

Manila East Medical Center showed the way in Group 4 with a 217, two points ahead of Rizgolf 5, which had a 215 while Calamba Doctors Hospital 4 had a 192.

SMC Chemical, meanwhile, zoomed a 16-point lead in the seniors division, finishing with a 247 while Ma-Com Tech Solutions 2 settled for a 231 and Texas had a 221.
