MCC holds U-16 chess

MANILA, Philippines - The MCC Kiddies (16-under) Chess Tourney and the 1850 below standard event will be held simultaneously tomorrow at the Lower 2F of St. Francis Square located behind SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City.

The kiddies chessfest is open to young players who are 16 years old and below. It has two stages: elimination and championship rounds. The elimination round will start at 12:30 p.m. tomorrow, Mar. 6 and the finals on Mar. 7. Both stages will apply the 60 minutes time control.

The participants will be ranked according to their ratings and divided into groups-of-fours. Cash and medals await the winners in this category.

The 1850 below event has two choices of schedules: a two-day competition which is set to start at 1pm tomorrow using the 90-minute time control while the one-day sked will be held on Sunday, Mar. 7 at 10am with shorter time control. A total pot of P10,000 is at stake with the champion getting the top prize of P3,000.
