MANILA, Philippines - Solar Sports and Solar TV broadcast the Winter Olympics straight from Vancouver, British Columbia where Filipino-American figure skater Amanda Evora is competing.

Although the 25-year old Evora is seeing action as part of the US team, the five-foot skater’s father, Vicente, is an engineer from Calapan, Oriental Mindoro.

The youngest of three children, Evora will have long-time friend Mark Ladwig as partner when they take part in the figure skating pair event.

Evora is just one of the more than 2,500 athletes from a record 82 countries competing for honor and glory in the 21st edition of the Winter Games which kicked off Saturday at the BC Place Stadium before a crowd of 60,000.

Action begins Sunday with gold medals already at stake in alpine skiing, biathlon, freestyle skiing, short track, ski jumping and speed skating.

Solar Sports and Solar TV are setting aside 200 hours of live coverage for the Winter Games, making it the most comprehensive broadcasting of the event here in the Philippines.
