PBA sportswriting contest up Sunday

MANILA, Philippines - The Phoenix Fuel-PBA Press Corps Sportswriting Contest will be held Sunday, 2 p.m., before Game 3 of the KFC-PBA Philippine Cup semifinals at the Araneta Coliseum.

Widely-read sports columnist Recah Trinidad of the Inquirer and Quinito Henson of The Star will be on hand to give 30-minute lectures on the fundamentals of sportswriting as well as feature and column writing.

Backed by the PBA Commissioner’s Office, Araneta Center, Solar Sports and the PBA Press Photographers, the contest, according to project co-chairmen Joel Orellana and Dennis Principe, has drawn a cast of aspirants including Christian Jerome Lagunzad (TUP), Karlitos Brian Decena (UPD), Benjay Espelimbergo (PUP), Nestor Domingo Jr. (CEU), Martin Tamudlong (PUP), Aiza dela Cruz (FEU), Kim Byron Purificacion (STI), Reijosiah Echano (JRU), Mark Pere Madrona (UPD), Josevee Sapphire Dagdag (Fatima), Manuel Cinco (PUP), John Daniel Salonga (La Salle), Cris John Roby Akol (La Salle), Jewel Sumayo (La Salle), Immanuel Canicosa (La Salle), Jeric R.
