Unbeaten UST XI starts UAAP 2nd round at Ateneo

MANILA, Philippines - Unbeaten University of Santo Tomas guns to sustain its impressive first round showing, when it takes on De La Salle University today at the start of second round of the 72nd UAAP football events at the Erenchun Field inside the Ateneo campus.

The Golden Booters, holding a leading 4-0-1 win-loss-draw card for 13 points on top, meet the De La Salle Green Booters, who stay at the bottom with 1-4-0 log, in the 10 a.m. first game of the event supported by Mizuno and Ateneo.

After winning their first game after five tries, the University of the East Red Booters will try to sustain their momentum when they battle second placer Far Eastern University (3-1-1 for 10 points) in the second game at 1 p.m.

Host Ateneo, in fourth place at 2-3-0 for six points, faces reigning champion University of the Philippines in the last game at 3 p.m. UP is currently at third with 3-2-0 card for nine points and fifth placer UE keeps a 1-4-0 slate for three points.

In women’s play at the Ocampo field, second placer La Salle (2-0-2 for eight points) collides against Ateneo (0-3-1 for one point) in the first game at 1 p.m., followed by a 3 p.m. game between defending champion UST (2-1-1 for seven points) and UP (1-3-0 for three points).
