San Beda, St. Benilde netters set pace
MANILA, Philippines - San Beda and St. Benilde beat their respective rivals to keep their win run going in the men’s division of the 85th NCAA table tennis competition at the Emilio Aguinaldo College gym yesterday.
The Lions, coached by Kurt de Guzman, downed the Letran Knights and the Arellano U Chiefs in a pair of 3-0 results. The Blazers, on the other hand, ripped the Jose Rizal Bombers and the Mapua Cardinals via the same result, 3-0.
San Beda and St. Benilde now have identical 4-0 (win-loss) cards in the event organized by the Management Committee backed by Andro.
In women’s action, the Lady Blazers, the reigning champions, and the Lady Knights show the way with 3-0 slates.
Spearheaded by last year’s MVP Ayra Malabayabas, CSB downed San Sebastian, 3-0, while Letran overpowered Jose Rizal, 3-0.
San Beda smothered EAC, 3-0, to notch its second win in three games for solo third.
San Beda, meanwhile, blanked a listless Jose Rizal, 3-0, to firm up its lead in the juniors’ division with a 3-0 slate.
