Orcullo powers RP to Last 16 in WTC
MANILA, Philippines - Dennis Orcullo won twice to power Team RP to a 4-1 victory over Czech Republic and into the Last 16 of the World Team Cup Championship at the Hannover Exhibition Grounds in Hannover, Germany Tuesday.
Orcullo defeated Roman Hybler, 8-2, in 9-ball, then outclassed Lukas Krenek, 7-2, in 10-ball to lead the RP bets’ charge.
Antonio Lining delivered the other point for Team RP as he trounced Michal Gavenciak, 8-4, in 9-ball then split the 8-ball Scotch doubles to seal the victory.
The event, which drew 48 nations, offers a total purse of $400,000 (P19.2 million) with the winning team receiving $100,000 prize.
The other members of the team are Lee Vann Corteza, Ronnie Alcano, Marlon Manalo, Warren Kiamco and non-playing team manager Edgar Acaba.
The RP bets blanked Great Britain II, 4-0, in the opener last Monday while Czech Republic edged Korea, 4-3.
Also advancing to the Last 16 are Poland, Russia, Sweden, Germany, China, Switzerland and United States.
