San Marino Tuna, Yes Pinoy back Book Run

-

MANILA, Philippines - San Marino Corned Tuna is teaming up with Yes Pinoy Foundation to stage the Book Run 2010 on Sunday with over 2,500 runners expected to see action at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.

San Marino is supporting an advocacy campaign by the YPF, a group led by celebrity actor Dingdong Dantes, to raise funds for school libraries that were damaged by the recent typhoons.

The YPF, which was originally conceived to provide scholarships to underprivileged students, has recently launched Oplan Restore Paaralan to help replenish the books in school libraries in Pasig, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Cainta, and other parts of Metro Manila, Rizal and Laguna that were affected by tropical storm Ondoy and typhoon Pepeng.

On tap in the event, co-organized by the National Bookstore, are the 3K, 5K and 10K runs for men and women.

For details and registration, log on to www.yespinoy.org or visit the R.O.X. store in Bonifacio High Street. Payment can be made at the registration and redemption booth at the 3rd Level, Rox, Bonifacio High Street between 12 noon and 8 p.m. Deadline for listup is tomorrow.

Fee is pegged at P450, inclusive of race materials, with a discounted rate of P400 for those who will bring books for donation. Proceeds will go to Yes Pinoy Foundation’s calamity fund for Oplan Restore Paaralan.

Dantes said the book drive aims to augment the current overwhelming need to replace the destroyed books, which can only be met through the generosity and concern of other Filipinos.

“We hope to count the support and extra resources of everyone, in rebuilding the learning tools and infrastructures of our young people. Books are extremely important in sharpening and expanding the knowledge of our future generation,” he said.

The YPF was originally conceived on Aug. 21, 2009 with a vision to promote education by way of tertiary scholarship grants to the sons and daughters of fallen personnel of the Philippine Marines.

“This Book Run is a complementary project to YPF’s Oplan Restore Paaralan where we hope to help rebuild the thousands of schools and help replace the millions of books destroyed by the recent typhoons,” Dantes said.

San Marino Corned Tuna chose to be a partner of the “book run” charity drive to help a worthy cause as a part of its corporate social responsibility, to promote healthy lifestyle, which is also the vision of the latest innovation in the canned tuna industry, and promote running as a healthy activity.

As a healthy food, San Marino Corned Tuna contains Omega 3 fatty acids that are good for the hearth. It has low sodium content and less oil, while containing lots of tuna. Dingdong Dantes is the celebrity endorser of San Marino Corned Tuna, together with Marian Rivera.
