Record field vies in world slasher today

MANILA, Philippines - The 2010 World Slasher Cup 8-Cock International Derby gets going at the Araneta Coliseum today with a record field of 260 entries vying for top honors in the biggest and most prestigious cockfighting competition hosted by the Pintakasi of Champions.

Action starts at 10 a.m. with the 2-cock eliminations for the first half of the field. The rest of the competitors will clash tomorrow.

The event is co-presented by Thunderbird Bexan XP, the potent blood conditioner, and Sagupaan Complexor.

The foreign contingent is led by the Hawaiian-Guam Group of Joe Tavares with four entries. Also fielding in their entries are Jeff Hudspeth, Tom Cooper and Jerard Inman (Cedar Creek Paradise); James Campbell of Osage Game Farm; Clarence Perkins of Kentucky; Hawaiian entry Lahaina Boys led by Kali and Willy Casco; Bill McNutt of California; Wilbert LeBlanc and Richard Harris of Louisiana and Roger Roberts of Georgia.

Ray Alexander of Alabama; Brad Padgette of Oregon; Randy Hall of Texas; Tom Cooper of North Carolina; Mike Formosa also of Hawaii; Jorge “Goy” Goitia of California; Damon Yorkman of Oklahoma; and Thomas Mischkus of Germany.
