10th Camp John Hay Chairman's Cup on

-

MANILA, Philippines - The 10th Camp John Hay Chairman’s Cup reels off today with the competing field facing not only John Hay’s challenging layout but also the chilly weather with temperature dipping to 10 degrees in Baguio.

Over a hundred players tee off at 6 a.m. in the first of two-day tournament featuring club members and their guests fighting for top honors in various divisions, including the overall championship and the low gross titles where Florentino David and Jong Won Park are the defending champions, respectively.

The final day tomorrow will have a shotgun start at 7 a.m. with the awards rites to start at 2 p.m. at the CJH Golf Club Verandah.

Like in its past stagings, keen competition is seen in the annual event held in honor of CJH’s chair with fabulous prizes at stake, including those for hole-in-one feats such as LCD TVs and a brand-new Wilson golf set.

Other events on tap are Class A (0-9), Class B (10-15), Class C (16-19), Class D (20-above), the ladies and guest/sponsors divisions.

The tournament, sponsored by Wilson Sports, Golforce, Inc., Asia Pacific Golf Corp., Federal Management and Maintenance Inc., Camp John Hay Manor, Poblador, Bautista and Reyes Law Offices, Rizgolf Sport Marketing, Le Chef and Boracay Sands, will be played under the Stableford scoring format for members. The guest/sponsors division will use the Molave scoring system.

Also going for back-to-back title wins are ladies champion Mary Jane Prooi, Rommel Gomez (Class A), Ed Montenegro (Class B), Dan Tenefrancia (Class C) and Mario Fores (Class D).

The event’s other backers are Fairways & Bluewater Golf & Country Club, Camp John Hay Development Corp., The Manila Southwoods Manor, The Manila Southwoods Golf & Country Club, The Baguio Country Club, Forest Hills Golf & Country Club, Sherwood Hills Country Club and Mt. Malarayat Golf & Country Club.
