New rules liven up RP drag racing

-

MANILA, Philippines - Action in the 2010 Philippine Drag Racing Championship-Northern Series resumes Saturday with the staging of the second leg at the Clark International Speedway.

The race will also serve as the kickoff round of the National Drag Racing Championship, making it a two-in-one event with the competing field vying for two titles and series points.

Meanwhile, organizers said that the new basis for the Drag Racing Driver of the Year and the Golden Wheel Award will be the Pro class, thus making it a wide open hunt for the coveted crown.

With the new rule, retired US serviceman John Ryzia goes for the lead as he seeks a repeat of his feat in the Pro division aboard 1968 Chevy.

He clocked 11.428 seconds in ruling the kickoff leg of the event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines and backed by San Miguel Corp., Pilipinas Shell, Yokohama, Pagcor, Aeromed, Hastings Motor Corp., Inside Racing and Stoplight TV
