Patriots try to check skid against Tigers

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Patriots hope to check its skid on the road as they take on the Thailand Tigers in the first Asean Basketball League at Nimibutr National Stadium in Bangkok on Sunday.

The Patriots are coming off back-to-back setbacks to the Singapore Slingers and the Kuala Lumpur Dragons but remained confident of their chances against the Tigers as they try to regain their confidence heading into the playoffs.

They take on the Brunei Barracudas on Jan. 24 at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig. The Patriots are unbeaten at home in seven games but lost four of their six games on the road.

The second running Satria Muda BritAma also has two more matches remaining, going up against Brunei Barracudas at the Brunei Indoor Stadium, Bandar Seri Begawan on Jan. 16 and against the KL Dragons at the BritAma Arena on Jan. 23.

Satria Muda has managed to win five of their seven home matches and three of their six road matches. Satria Muda BritAma also has a clean sheet against both Brunei Barracudas and KL Dragons, emerging as the winner in all previous meets.

Singapore Slingers, who are third in the league standings, have three road matches facing them en route to the playoffs. Thye meet KL Dragons at MABA Stadium Malaysia on Jan. 17 and the Brunei Barracudas at the Brunei Indoor Stadium, Bandar Seri Begawan three days later.

 The team will then travel to Bangkok to face Thailand Tigers at Nimibutr National Stadium on Jan. 24. The Singapore Slingers have so far won both matches against Brunei Barracudas, but have lost one each to both KL Dragons and Thailand Tigers.
