Father of RP youth baseball to be inducted to hall of fame

MANILA, Philippines - Rodolfo “Totoy” Tingzon, considered the father of youth baseball in the country, will be inducted to the PONY Baseball/Softball International Hall of Fame during the PONY Asia-Pacific Summit to be held at the Manila Pavillion Hotel on Jan. 15-17. Baseball leaders of 10 Asian countries will be on hand for the formal awarding which will be conferred by PONY International president and CEO Abraham Key. 

Tingzon introduced the Little League Baseball Program in the Philippines in 1964, established PONY Baseball/Softball in Asia in 1975 and co-founded the World Boys Baseball Federation in 1982 which to date has a membership of 44 nations. He was also instrumental in introducing many innovations in the way PONY tournaments are conducted in the region. He is the first Filipino and one of only two Asian recipients of this prestigious award.
