BRISBANE, Australia – Former No. 1-ranked Justine Henin has edged Melinda Czink in a challenging three-set match to reach the semifinals in her comeback tournament.

Henin beat the seventh-seeded Czink, 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (5), at the Brisbane International in a quarterfinal lasting 2 hours, 21 minutes, and next faces Ana Ivanovic.

The seven-time major winner struggled at times in a match that opened with five straight service breaks.

She dropped a set for the first time in three matches, and wasted a break and three match points in the third.

Henin clinched the match on her sixth match point, 24 minutes after her first.

Ivanovic advanced, 6-4, 7-6 (6), earlier Thursday over 18-year-old Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.         (AP)
