RP International jungolf tourney under way at Greenfield

-

MANILA, Philippines - Seventy foreign and locals jungolfers begin their chase for top honors in various divisions as the 10th Philippine International Junior Golf Championships presented by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office fires off today at the Ayala Greenfield Golf and Leisure Club in Calamba, Laguna.

For the 2010 junior golf opener, Australian pro Kim Walter Baldwin has brought in five boys from Singapore to mix it up with the three boys and two girls from Taiwan, six players from Malaysia and four bets from South Korea in the six-division event kicking off a series of events organized by Joe Cantada Sports.

“As always, we welcome them all here, but we’re still pinning our hopes on the local bets. In short, this is going to be a very exciting tournament,” said Edgardo “Boy” Cantada of the Joe Cantada Sports.

All the foreign entries are billeted at the Cantada Sports Center, now a familiar sports venue for both local and international events, in Taguig City.

Former junior golf ace Gerard Cantada is the tournament chairman.

After hosting a welcome dinner, Boy Cantada bared plans of more sporting events under Joe Cantada Sports this year. “We’re looking at a good year, thanks to our friends and supporters, including PCSO under GM Rosario Uriarte and PR manager Manny Garcia. We also thank the Ayala Greenfield Golf and Leisure Club for their big participation in this event,” said Cantada.
