Mercado, Sy rule Eagle Ridge Fore By Four

MANILA, Philippines - Frederick Mercado and Guillermo Sy turned in a whopping score of 185 points that was just too hot for their rivals in Class D in the recent Fore By Four Invitational, the member-guest tournament of the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club in Gen. Trias, Cavite.

Mercado and Sy simply played way above their handicaps with scores of 90 and 95 points at the Faldo and Aoki courses of the country’s largest golf club for a runaway victory with the closest team in the overall standings, Bart Borja and Herman Lanto, finishing 12 points behind.

Borja and Lanto themselves were unchallenged in their Class A victory, beating junior players Lawrence Celestino and Patrick Uy by 17 points.

Alfredo Javellana-Robert Layson (Class B), Rolly Basco-Genovevo Sebastian (Class C) and Eden Hernandez-Catherine Calimba (ladies) were the other winners of the event that featured 240 pairs.

The Fore By Four was presented by Sta. Lucia Realty & Development Corp. and Alsons Land Corp. The other sponsors were Rudy Project, Toyota Balintawak, LG Electronics, Pepsi Cola, Alsons Insurance, WG, Philippine Airlines, Aquadyne, PacSports, First Tee, Dynamic Sports, Wilson Sports, RizGolf, Philgreen, Microtel, Pest Neutralizer Corp., DMD Cool and Inquirer Golf.

Eddie Loo and Ricardo Valmonte took the grand raffle prizes with each driving home a brand-new Toyota Vios worth more than P500,000.
