MANILA, Philippines - The 10th Philippine International Junior Golf Championships fires off Jan. 6-8 at the Ayala Greenfield Golf in Calamba, Laguna with some of the country’s top players seeing action against the best in the region.
“We want junior golf, featuring some of the best and promising junior golfers in the region, to kick off the sports year of 2010,” said Edgardo “Boy” Cantada of the organziing Philippine Junior Golf Federation and Joe Cantada Sports.
A total of 90 local players, headed by Jobim Carlos and Bino dela Cruz, will slug it out for top honors against the top jungolfers from Malaysia, Chinese Taipei, South Korea and Singapore in the three-day tournament presented by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.
All the foreign participants, according to Cantada, will start arriving on Jan. 4 and will be billeted at the Cantada Sports Center in Taguig City.
Tournament chairman and former junior golf ace Gerard Cantada, meanwhile, said the practice round will be held on Jan. 5 to be followed by a welcome dinner, a fun and festive tradition in all Joe Cantada Sports-organized events, at the Cantada sports complex.
