Estrella tossers buck La Salle-Lipa rivals
MANILA, Philippines - Defending champion Maximo Estrella Elementary School fought back from a set down to hack out an 18-25, 25-19, 25-15, victory over De La Salle-Lipa in the boys’ division of the Toby’s Sports-Dunkin’ Donuts Junior Volleyball League recently.
Mark Marcelliano, Louise Gianan and Zosimo Micutuan combined for 26 kills, four blocks and 13 service aces to steer the defending champions to the victory.
Colegio San Agustin beat Xavier, 25-13, 25-9, while Conception Elementary School also scored a 25-3, 25-6 win over Xavier.
Aakash Bhagia, Fitzgerald Shioda and Ariel Morado starred for CSA with 28 points with Morado coming away with eight aces.
Keanu Arellano and John Madrigalejos combined for 26 points for Conception Elem. squad.
Colegio San Agustin, the defending champion in the girls’ side, beat arch-rival De La Salle Zobel 25-18, 18-25, 25-21, then trounced Hope Christian School.
The HCS team, meanwhile, clobbered Colegio de Santa Rosa 25-5, 25-7, in the league backed by Shakey’s, Mikasa, Equipe and Asics.
