PGAA bets rule Lucero gymnastics
MANILA, Philippines - Philippine Gymnastics Athletics Academy (PGAA) bets Byron Cauyan and Dustine Mori Serrano Nuncio rose to prominence in the recently held 10th Milo-sponsored Bea Lucero Gymnastics Cup at the Rizal Memorial Gymnastics Center.
Cauyan and Nuncio won three gold and one silver medals each to emerge the men’s and women’s all-around champions, respectively.
Cauyan won gold medals in parallel bars (9.55), floor exercise (8.40), pommel horse (8.50) and placed second behind Singapore American Community Action Council’s Oscar Depp in the vault.
Nuncio also won gold medals in parallel bars (9.65), floor exercise (9.45), pommel horse (9.20) and got the silver in vault (9.60). Alex Rudd also from the SACAC team beat Nuncio for the gold (9.75) in the vault.
Rossana Andrea Nolido of Club Gymnastica-Pasig dominated the Level 3 (nine-under) competitions, winning the vault at 15.00, balance beam at 15.40, uneven bars at 14.70 and floor exercise 14.50.
Other gold medallists were Rosanne Melencio of PGAA, Maxine Javier of St. Paul College Pasig and Yna Otis of Poveda Gymnastics Team (PGT) in Level 1 (6-under), Satchi Gabrielle Gonzales of PGAA and Gian Alexis Reomales of Manila Gymnastics Club (MGC) in Level 1 (7-8 group A), Mary Samantha Bustria of MGC, Micha Fenina Bernate of CGP, Lia Bisguera of PGT and Regine Mary Dominique Hizon of PGAA Level 1 (7-8 group B), Aleny Serna of International School Manila (ISM), Kanna Shimoda of PGAA, Haruka Inoue of PGT and Paulliana Zamesa of PGAA in Level 1 (9-10 years old), Samantha Isabella Aguilar of PGAA, Duane Therese Moleño of SPCP and Gianna Marie Lee of PGAA in Level 1 (11-above).
Other achievers were Lily Robinette, Maria Czarina Beltran, Marianna Denise Villongco, Natalia Avila, Paulina Karlson, Ninna Azurin, Lady Namia de Dios, Jaron Marshall, Carla Claudi, Anica Joy Sirios, Shantel Gruenberg, Thea Banson, Katrina Marie Evangelist, Kayla Uytengsu, Andrea Preysler, Niña Alvia, Isabelle Braza, Michelle Tan-Climaco, Isabella Bernal, Jia Kawachi, Weaverly Collen Lee, Jasmin Yu, Eugenie Evangelista, Henry Burke, Irah Nuncio, Rafael Ablaza, Vicente Bravo, Carlos Yulo, Anthony Ombak, Jag Timbang, Nico Cuadernal and Jay Franz Villegas.
The Philippine Gymnastics Athletics Academy bagged the team championship honors with a total of 555.10 points, outscoring Poveda (501.20) and Club Gymnastica (417).
More than 100 aspiring young gymnasts from 10 teams took part in the country’s most prestigious tournament spearheaded by Club Gymnastica.
