Derby opens NCA season

MANILA, Philippines - The National Cockers Alliance kicks off its new season with the staging of the NCA derby today at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City hosted by Cong. Iggy Arroyo, Ellan Nagaño and Pete Ison.

It is sponsored by Sagupaan Complexor.

Among the entries tipped to contend for top honors are from Isabela congressional candidate Rodolfo Albano, Jimmy Ang, 2009 Cocker of the Year Patrick Antonio and Ruel Ricafort.

Under NCA rules, the cocker who garners the most number of wins during the regular NCA derbies, minus the results of three regular derbies to be chosen by each participant, and the World Championship Derby on Jan. 12, 14 and 16, 2010, will be crowned Cocker of the Year.

The other sportsmen participating are Gov. Ito Ynares, Gerry Ramos, Ferdie Buensalida, JV Magsaysay, Elmer Nepomuceno, Mario Villamor, James Uy, Manny and Arman Santos, Jun Santiago, Ernie Austria, Rey Allas, Hessie Mallillin, Tommy Chua and Osang dela Cruz, T. Sevilla, Eric dela Rosa, Danny Teves, Bebot Villar, Efren Canlas, the Jingco brothers, the Madlangbayan brothers, and Jet Fernando.
