Archers resume bid in inter-college golf

MANILA, Philippines - Defending champion De La Salle hopes to carry the momentum after topping the first round action as the 2009 Intercollegiate Golf Championship resumes with the second phase when it visits rival Ateneo today in its home course at Splendido Golf and Country Club in Tagaytay.

The Green Archers emerged as the overall leader with nine points following wins against the Blue Eagles, the UP Maroons, the St. Benilde Blazers and the Lyceum Pirates, while drawing (1 point) with the University of Asia and Pacific Dragons.

Ateneo is at second with seven points and a win over La Salle today will forge a two-way tie for the lead. CSB is at third (5 pts), followed by UAP and UP (3 pts each), and Lyceum (1pt) in this tournament backed by the Philippine Golf Foundation (PGF).

Other matches to start the second round are as follows, UAP plays host to CSB in its home course in Tagaytay Midlands, while UP visits Lyceum at The Orchard.

The Finals is set Jan. 31 and Feb. 7, 2010.
