Sonsona, Laurente dispute RP bantam belt

MANILA, Philippines - Rising boxing stars Eden Sonsona and Monico Laurente collide for the Philippine bantamweight title, while Danilo Peña stakes his RP super-flyweight crown against Marvin Tampus in a pair of main event highlighting the “Quest For Glory” boxing card at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig today (Saturday).

Fight starts at 4 p.m.

Spicing up the meet presented by San Miguel Beer-Samahang Walang Katulad, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), GSIS, Petron and Biogenic Isopropyl Alcohol are two special attractions pitting Dan Nazareno Jr. against Korean Jung-Hoon Yang and Allan Tañada opposite Japanese Tadamasa Takashima.

The boxing card is held as a tribute to the late boxing manager and promoter Rod Nazario. It is also staged in cooperation with the weekly boxing show Rod Nazario’s In This Corner, the Rizal provincial government under Gov. JunJun Ynares and former Gov. Casimiro “Ito” Ynares.

The rest of the undercards feature Ronald Pontillas against Joan de Guia, Richard Pumicpic versus Rey Sumapig, Dennis Tubieron vs Jeffrey Cerna and Joan Imperial vs Rodelito Baronia.
