Roller racing back at MOA
MANILA, Philippines - The unique cycling sport of roller racing at the San Miguel by the Bay area of the Mall of Asia this Saturday with the Rollapaluza Roller-racing Rock N Rollin Tour featuring competition in four different categories.
Expected to compete in the professional division are members of the national cycling team led by this year’s Tour rookie of the year Mark Bonzo who edged out Briton Caspar Hughes in the finale when roller racing debuted at the Festival Mall in Alabang. Other national cyclists who have signified their intention to join are Alfie Catalan and Lloyd Reynante.
The women’s division of the event, presented by David’s Salon and Union Jack Tavern, is expected to be a return bout between Annalisa Dysangco, a former national duathlete who won the summer Rollapaluza inaugural race, and former national triathlete and rower Bing Alto with the race to be contested over a simulated 500-meter distance.
The event, also supported by Mellow 94.7, Rudy Project, Gatsby, The Edge, GSK, Action & Fitness, and Javi, features two stationary one wheeled bikes placed side by side with two oversized dial hands at the back that show the speed of the two competitors as they spin madly on their bikes.
