ASAP tankers depart today for Taipei invitational

MANILA, Philippines - A 50-member delegation from the Aquatic Sports Association of the Philippines is leaving today to compete in the Citi International Invitational Swimming competition in Taipei-Taiwan from Nov. 21-22.

The team, led by ASAP president Luz Arzaga-Mendoza and secretary general Susan Papa, is composed of upcoming swimmers trained by the Susan Papa Swimming School.

“Our objective is to increase participation in swimming by Filipinos on the grassroots level and support talented athletes by getting them to participate in international competitions,” Mendoza said.

The ASAP’s participation is supported by the Philippine Sports Commission and Muntilupa Mayor Aldrin San Pedro.

“This is a big group of more than 50 swimmers. If I’m not mistaken this is the biggest delegation ever sent internationally since I was with swimming.  We’re happy to have a fairly good representation since the swimmers come from different regions,” said Papa.

Among the members of the team are Andre Abacahin, Anton Dominic Abacahi, Arabella Abacahin,Anaki Emil Lorbes, Alexandra Nicole Nacpil, Andrea Pacheco, Paul Jerome Carpio, Luis Marco Mendoza, Gertrude Pilapil, Miguel Thruelen, Denjylie Cordero, Dennice Cordero, Delia Cordero, Lans Donato, Jericho Arceo, Alfred Maglabe, Jose Santos, Ralph Quintos, Miguel Apolinar, Alexandra Ng, Kevin Eijansantos, Cynthjhune Goden, Gian Gonzaga, Alexander Echavez, Loren Echavez, Ara Echavez, Jebb Cane, Jorgina Cane, Rozelle Diaz, Gervilyn Cadimas and Bianca Diaz.
