MANILA, Philippines - Lyceum and University of Manila arranged a virtual knockout match for a Sweet 16 berth after posting their second victories in the North/Central Luzon/Metro Manila zonal phase of the 2009 Philippine Collegiate Champions League yesterday at the Lyceum gym in Intramuros.
The Pirates stopped a third quarter comeback by PCU-Dasmariñas to score an 88-71 victory while the Hawks leaned on the late-game heroics of Ryeon delos Trinos to squeak past Lyceum of Subic Bay, 83-77.
Both teams will face off today to determine which team will join the likes of UAAP champion Ateneo and NCAA titlist San Sebastian in the Sweet 16 which starts on Nov. 23.
