Architects golf on at Forest Hills

MANILA, Philippines - The Architects Golf Club holds its monthly tournament today with the battle for the golfer of the year heating up and the match play semifinals on tap at the Forest Hills Golf and Country Club in Antipolo.

The tournament, to be played under the Molave scoring system, will have a semi-shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. It is sponsored by Boysen Paints and backed by Teresa Marble, WB Prime Door/IrealtyShop.com, Wilcon Builders, Wingco Const. Corp., World Home Depot, Bticino, Cemvathene Mktg., Columbia Wires, Firefly Electric and Lighting and GT Stoneworks.

Meanwhile, Rommel Martinez bagged the Group I crown in the last AGC tournament at the Korea Country Club, scoring a gross 80 worth 37 points.

Boy Alcantara finished second with 32 points from a gross 87, nipping Sanny Santiago, who had a gross 94 for similar 32 points, in the countback.

Other division winners were Dante Yatco (Group II, gross 87, 41 points), Benny Velasco (Group III, gross 94, 37 points), Jojit Ubina (Group IV, gross 100, 38 points) and Nilo Villanueva (Group V, gross 103, 37 points.

Francis Santaromana (gross 90, 37 points) and Larry Santiago (gross 93, 32 points) placed second and third, respectively, in Group II; Ed Casares (gross 99, 34 points) and Boy Katigbak (gross 100, 33 points) in Group III; Eymard Agbing (gross 99, 36 points) and Sonia Ongkiko (gross 99, 35 points) in Group IV; and Mon Ajero (gross 111, 34 points) and Alex Hilario (gross 106, 34 points) in Group V.
