MANILA, Philippines - Boxing icon Manny Pacquiao is putting up a P5 million darts tournament that will pit the country’s top darters against a talent-laden international field with the winner getting P700,000.
Dubbed the Manny Pacquiao P5M International Darts Classic, the event, set Nov. 28-30 in General Santos, also offers P320,000 to the runner-up with the next three placers getting P142,000 each.
A total of P2 million will be up for grabs in the men’s singles event where the 33rd to 64th placers receiving P3,000 each. The champion in women’s singles will get P50,000, the runner-up to receive P25,000 and the next three taking home P12,500 each.
The winner in the Classified Draw Triples will get P150,000, the second placers will P75,000 and the third and fourth finishers will be assured of P33,000.
The Fixed Doubles and the Classified Draw Doubles winners will each receive P120,000, according to Tito Soncuya, president of the National Darts Federation of the Philippines which is organizing the event expected to attract players from the United States, Malaysia, Brunei, China, and Japan and the Middle East.
The Fix 4 Person team event champion will get P300,000 while the runners-up will receive P140,000. The Classified Draw 4-man event is staking P150,000.
