Sherwood holds Chairman's Cup

-

MANILA, Philippines - Sherwood Hills Golf Club, one of the best clubs south of Manila, announced that the forthcoming 2009 Chairman’s Cup will be dubbed golf for a cause because all proceeds will be given to a relief-giving organization for the victims of typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng.

“This is our own little way of helping the people ravaged by the consecutive calamities that hit most parts of Metro Manila,” Sherwood Hills chairman Robert John Sobrepeña and sports and games head Jimmy Borromeo jointly said.

Sobrepeña and Borromeo are expecting a full-field roster of 150 golfers, composed of members and guests. The participants will be vying for the beautiful trophies in each division as well as the fabulous raffle prizes.

Already this early, the Philippine Pro-Am Golf Foundation has committed to be the one-day event’s major presentor and Texas Eagle-The Turf Co. is staking a golf cart as one of the hole-in-one items.

Golforce Inc., Federal Management, Club Leisure, CJH Dev. Co., CJH Golf Club, Manila Southwoods, Isuzu Philippines and Kork Inc. are major sponsors.

Asia Pacific Golf Corp., Custom Clubmakers, G&W Clubshares, Interconnect System, Mail Experts, Mizuno, Nine Coast Enterprises, Primepower Manpower, Poblador, Bautista & Reyes Law Offices, Rizgolf, Warbird and Wilson Sports are backers.

In relation to the staging of the annual Chairman’s Cup, Sherwood Hills is also set to formally launch the newly renovated driving range, located at the side of the clubhouse.
