MANILA, Philippines - Burger King starts life minus team skipper Wynne Arboleda as it takes on San Miguel Beer in a triple bill also featuring Smart Gilas in its second game as guest team in the KFC PBA Philippine Cup at the Astrodome today.
BK coach Yeng Guiao said some adjustments are in order on the ouster of Arboleda, the team’s lead point guard who averaged 25 minutes a game last season.
Chico Lanete and Egay Billones will get more load as Arboleda starts serving a season-long suspension he incurred for mauling a heckling fan in the BK-Smart Gilas tiff last Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum.
The Whoppers and the Beermen clash at 7:30 p.m. in a game also to be marked by the first meeting between Arwind Santos and his former team.
Burger King split its first two games, suffering a ghastly rout at the hands of Purefoods Tender Juicy before bouncing back with a close win over Smart Gilas. San Miguel, on the other hand, dropped its first two games versus Barangay Ginebra and Alaska Milk.
Meanwhile, Sta. Lucia and Talk n Text both seek a second straight win in tangling with Rain or Shine and Smart Gilas, respectively, in the day’s other games.
