Lady Falcons notch 2nd win
MANILA, Philippines - Adamson picked up its second straight win after an opening game loss, beating University of the Phils., 25-13, 25-22, 25-15, yesterday in the Shakey’s V-League Season 6 second conference at the Blue Eagle gym in Ateneo.
Angela Benting uncorked 12 attacks while Pau Soriano and Jill Gustillo added 11 and 10 hits, respectively, for the Lady Falcons, who had to fight off the Lady Maroons’ tough stand in the second set to complete the straight-set victory.
It was Adamson’s second straight win after dropping its opening day game to University of Santo Tomas, giving the Lady Falcons the momentum and the confidence when they face the fancied Far Eastern U side tomorrow.
Charmaine Moralde, Adamson’s guest player, also chipped in nine points she highlighted with three service aces in a one-hour, four-minute encounter.
“They’re starting to jell and play with a lot of discipline,” said Adamson coach Dulce Pante.
Cathy Barcelona came away with 10 points, including two blocks, for UP but the Lady Maroons yielded 26 points off errors and fell to their third straight defeat in the tournament sponsored by Shakey’s Pizza and backed by Accel, Mikasa, Mighty Bond and OraCare.
With her wards in control majority of the way, Pante took the luxury to field in seldom-used players to prepare them for tougher games ahead.
It was actually UP’s 10 loss in row since it joined the league, organized by Sports Vision, in the first conference.
Meanwhile, the Adamson-UP game will be aired at 2 p.m. today on NBN-4.
