FBL resumes this weekend
MANILA, Philippines - University of Sto. Tomas goes for its third straight win in Group A against first-day loser St. Mary’s in the 2009 Primovit-Futures Basketball League (FBL) Sunday at Xavier School.
The nine-game schedule features action in the juniors, midgets and girls divisions.
Two undefeated junior teams – Antipolo Lady of Lourdes School-A and Faith Christian School, both toting 1-0 win-loss records – clash for the lead while two other teams – San Sebastian (0-2) and Holy Trinity Academy (0-1) – collide for a breakthrough win.
Chiang Kai Shek College and San Beda make their debut in the other match.
Also playing on Sunday in this tournament sponsored by Samsung Digital Camera, Purefoods TJ Hotdogs, Gatorade Thirst Quencher, Sportspray, Philips Gadgets and Accessories, and Accord Capital, is junior girls team St. Theresa’s College (1-0) against OB Montessori.
The four remaining games, all in the midgets division, pit De La Salle-Zobel (2-0) vs St. Mary’s for the solo leadership in Group B, San Beda vs Kids’ World, Multiple Intelligence vs Holy Trinity Academy and Colegio de San Agustin (0-2) vs Antipolo Immaculate Conception School (0-1).
The FBL, now on its fifth season, is a school-based grassroots basketball development program organized by the Futures Sports & Events.
It has alo been held in Cebu, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, and Bacolod.
