La Salle, Assumption pace WBL 17-U

MANILA, Philippines - De La Salle and Assumption College led the early winners in the 17-under competitive division of the Women’s Basketball League, which got under way at the Xavier School gym over the weekend.

The Lady Archers leaned on Charmaine Sulit’s 14 points in edging Community of Learners, 37-36, to post their first win in Group B 17-U Competitive Division of the league organized by the BEST Center (Basketball Efficiency and Scientific Training Center) and sponsored by Milo.

Beatrice Daez scored 23 points to tow Assumption to a 52-49 beating of Angelicum College and the share of the early lead with La Salle. Also sharing the limelight in the same group was La Salle-Zobel, which dumped St. Bridget School, 76-44.

Miriam College plastered New Era High School, 65-29, in Group A.

In the 17-U Developmental Division, it was St. Scholastica’s-Westgrove over Colegio Sta. Rosa-Makati, 36-21; and Southville International School over St. Anthony, 33-15.

In the 13-Under category, it was Miriam College-A over Southville International School, 66-15; and La Salle-Zobel over Miriam-B, 43-8.

In the Collegiate Division, it was (Group A) University of Santo Tomas over University of the Philippines-Los Baños, 96-26; UP-Diliman over Miriam, 60-29; and (Group B) St. Scholastica’s College over Assumption, 64-33.
