In This Corner features Sonsona

MANILA, Philippines - The early fights of Marvelous Marvin Sonsona and footages during the last birthday celebration and burial of the late boxing promoter and manager Rod Nazario are the special features in today’s episode of In This Corner (7-8 p.m.) over NBN-4.

The top-rating boxing program presented by Ginebra San Miguel, San Miguel Beer, Purefoods, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), Biogenic Isopropyl Alcohol and GSIS, will show the first four fights of Sonsona as a professional before becoming the World Boxing Organization (WBO) super-flyweight champion.

First off the bat is Sonsona’s exhibition match against Joe Galamiton, followed by his pro debut opposite Richard Donaire, then against Noel Guliman, Daryll Amoncio and finally, Roy Jones Jr.

A special attraction in the one-hour program are the videos take during the 74th birthday celebration of Nazario last Sept. 12, almost two weeks before his death due to lung cancer.

Also to be shown are highlights of his interment last Sept. 29.

Along with Moy Lainez, Gerry Garcia and Lito Mondejar, Nazario conceptualized the In This Corner boxing program, which observed its ninth year anniversary only last month.
