Ondoy postpones all games

MANILA, Philippines - Typhoon Ondoy postponed all games scheduled yesterday and today in various venues, including the start of the best-of-three title series between the Ateneo Blue Eagles and the University of the East Red Warriors today at the Araneta Coliseum.

UAAP media coordinator Tessa Jasminez said Game 1 of the title series will be held Thursday also at the Araneta Coliseum. Tickets for today’s games will be honored on Thursday.

Also, the women’s and junior basketball championships will be held Tuesday at The Arena in San Juan.

The Philippine Volleyball Federation also postponed indefinitely the Asian men’s volleyball opening scheduled yesterday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium and the San Andres gym.

“As of 12:45 p.m., the PVF officially declared all the games scheduled Saturday were postponed until further notice due to severe weather conditions. Our apologies The PVF will keep you posted regarding changes in schedules,” PVF vice Gener Dungo said.

The opening games scheduled at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium – Sri Lanka-Hong Kong at 12 noon, Maldives-Korea at 2 p.m., China-Vietnam at 4 p.m. and host Philippines-Myanmar at 7 p.m. – were all officially called off.

 The 2 p.m. scheduled match between India and Indonesia , followed by the 4 p.m. game between defending champion Australia and Lebanon at the San Andres Gym were also postponed.

The resumption of the games will be announced later.

The opening leg of the Roadbike Philippines –711 Manila Criterium Grand Prix, scheduled yesterday, has been reset to Oct. 4.
