Cangolf Am Open slated Oct. 14-16

MANILA, Philippines - The country’s top and upcoming amateurs slug it out for top honors again next month when the 10th Canlubang Amateur Open is staged Oct. 14-16 at Cangolf’s north and south courses.

Antonio Asistio II goes for back-to-back crown in the championship division of the 54-hole event which also features competitions in Classes A (11 below), B (12-20) and C (21 and above) and the ladies category (Open).

Asistio, a national team mainstay, beat ICTSI teammate Joey Huerva by two shots to win last year’s crown in the tournament hosted by the Canlubang Golf and Country Club in its continuing effort to help develop amateur golf.

Registration is ongoing with fees pegged at P2,500 for non-member and P1,000 for club member, inclusive of free practice round, raffle, giveaways and lunch on Oct. 16. Deadline for listup is on Oct. 9.

Organizers of the event said the ladies competition will be played in the first two days while those in Classes A, B and C will be held in the last two days of the three-day tournament.
